About Me

This blog was created mostly as an outlet for me and anyone who cares about what I do in my spare time. I know there are tons of other ways I could have published this information but I am not very "techy"; (I don't own anything that starts with an "i": ipad, iphone or ipod) and I like to stick with what I know, hence the blog format. I realized my life is busy but I needed an outlet, taking time to do something that I enjoy, for my sanity. This blog will document all the random projects, activities, interests that I do in my free time. This will be an evolving blog but who knows maybe you will enjoy the read and even learn something.

House Part 2.. It's addicting.

With summer coming and all the events that occur with summer, a big one being the kids out of school, my projects slowed down. We have a whole list of "to dos" on the exterior. I have a few projects ready to start when that magical time of back to school happens. Sigh...

This was done early June..

This is the kids bathroom upstairs.

We painted it a light blue. It was white.

Carl was able to cut into the drywall and add a shower. That was the easy the part. The hard part now is trying to decide how to waterproof the area that will now be the shower, possibly without doing tile... So until we get motivated to do tile or figure something else out,the shower functions but we can't quite use it.

I decided I didn't like the pinkish tub. To remove and replace would have been expensive and a waste. I got a kit from Home Depot for $28 and painted it white. (I also did this in the Master Bathroom)

That was totally worth it! It looks brand new.. almost. It was pretty easy to do but the SMELL and FUMES are no joke. It is stinky stuff.

Next was the counter. Also in very good condition, but replacing not really an option right now. I was up for another DIY countertop remodel... or was I?
I did fake marble look on the counter and gel-stained (I LOVE this stuff so easy no sanding great results) the cabinets a bit darker brown and painted the sink with the same epoxy paint as the tub.

Don't mind the fan chord in the left hand corner...great photo skills I know.

This closer with the epoxy glaze that makes it shine.

Overall, total cost so far $60, including new light fixture and faucet fixtures not pictured.. Yes I like this. Lets just say you can't believe everything you read on the internet. There is not enough space on this blog to post all the pictures of the mess ups but I will post some just to remind me and you that I am not perfect.. If you saw them all you would be amazed that anything ever turned it. It seemed like there was no good ending for this project for a while but I finally got it. Patience... Every part of this counter ended up being more complicated than it needed to be... even the epoxy coat that I had done several times before, had its issues. I admit it was user error issues as we left the window open to air and there was no screen on the window and we had moths and gnats die as the landed in our wet epoxy. It would have fun to fossilize them in the counter but we didn't. Even after all that, I am still thinking about doing our Master Bathroom counter tops. Its kind of like having a kid, after a while you forget how hard and horrible the process was but you do it again..

Just for kicks are just two of many many the mess ups.. Luckily I was never beyond the point I couldn't start back to blank slate.

Loving called this one moose tracks as it kinda looked like that flavor of ice cream..

This one well not sure...definitely not what I was going for...
